I am totally celebrating not only the end of the hot weather, but the fact that school has begun again. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer clothes, and I love my daughter, and all the fun things involved with school summer holidays, but blooming heck has it been hard work!
My daughter is my world, and I work very hard to make sure she is healthy, happy and a rounded individual. But 6/7 weeks of summer holidays has been long and exhausting! We have fitted so much in.We went to London, and Harry Potter Studios, which both were amazing. My daughter was complimented on her politeness, friendliness and her costume! She had an incredible time, and hopefully memories to last a life time.
She has volunteered on cook, and wash up at least once! She made cakes with her grandparents and the only thing left is persuading her the cook something she likes!
She did plenty of crafty projects and painting. She is a very creative little girl and always wants to be continuing current projects or starting something new!
We even went fairy huntings! This was so good that we went two days in a row so we could take friends to show them what we had found!
We had play dates with friends who go to other schools, and this meant I got to catch up with Mums and Dads that I haven’t seen much of recently. Play dates are great at this age as you can pop the kids in a play area and they will entertain each other for hours, only with the occasional demand for toilet or food!
We both enjoyed wearing dresses all summer, the heat meant that we could do it most days, but the heat did just go on for so long. I have never been a girly girl, but since having a daughter, it has opened my eyes to the wonders of femininity. I never wore a skirt in my teens, I worked too hard in a physical job in my twenties to be concerned with what I wear. So the discovery that I look good in a dress is a very recent discovery for me. It has totally been a case of looking at Kids clothes, thinking “wow, these are amazing”. This inspired me to search out more colour, more contrast, more flattering clothing, and more statement jewellery too. This summer Both of us have really loved dressing up, painting our nails, doing hair, and generally be girly girls!
But it has ended. I’m exhausted, the house is a mess and I’m broke. But I can recover, the house will get cleaned eventually, and we can eat cheaply for a while.
What have you fitted into the Summer, have you been anywhere special?
